The Nairobi Western Ring Road, simply known as Ring Road, Kileleshwa starts from Westlands roundabout and ends at Oloitoktok Road, close to Kilimani. Estates along Ring Road, like Kileleshwa, Kilimani, Lavington, and Parklands have become popular in recent years owing to the modern housing and amenities, abundant green spaces, and luxurious lifestyles they afford both locals and expatriates.

Estates along Ring Road are close to the CBD and are ideal for professionals who want to live close to their places of work. Additionally, foreigners and diplomats moving to Kenya also prefer to live in these places because roads and infrastructure are well-maintained and modern amenities are easily accessible.

This article highlights the key aspects of moving to Ring Road, especially Kileleshwa, Kilimani, Lavington, and Parklands.

1. Moving to Ring Road, Kileleshwa

Kileleshwa along Ring Road is popular for its leafy, well-maintained streets and serenity. The neighborhood is close to the city center and has excellent public transport links. Property options range from modern apartment blocks to luxurious villas, offering a range of housing options for individuals seeking an exclusive lifestyle.

There are also housing options well-suited for families. Some of the most sought-after apartments and estates include Moon Valley Apartments, 58 Koibatek Springs, Tabere Heights, Kentmere Valley, and Signature Residence, among others.

    Moving to Moon Valley Apartments

Moon Valley Apartments is one of the best developments along Mandera Road in Kileleshwa. The complex offers 2- and 3-bedroom apartments with rent prices starting from Ksh 80,000 for 2-bedroomed apartments. The complex boasts well-maintained amenities, a spacious lounge area, landscape garden, and barbecue area, perfect for entertaining over the weekend.

Families moving to Ring Road, Kileleshwa will find Moon Valley Apartments to be a suitable home as it comes with DSQs, unlike most residential units in the area. Moving into the apartment is straightforward, but you must liaise with the management first.

Movers to Moon Valley Apartments should be prepared to encounter issues with parking, since security does not allow moving trucks in the estate, only allowing them to park outside the gate. Movers may also need to be cautious when carrying household items as the bridge connecting the parking to the elevator bay is unreinforced and can cause accidents or damage.

    Moving to 58 Koibatek Springs

This residential unit, located off Oloitoktok Road, has 2- and 3-bedroom apartments. The rental prices are Ksh 85,000 and Ksh. 130,000, respectively. While these apartments have great amenities, they lack DSQs, which may be inconvenient if you have a live-in house manager.

With 58 Koibatek Springs, movers to Kileleshwa may experience problems, such as long carry for houses on higher floors. The lifts are also quite narrow such that certain bulky household items can’t fit in and movers must take the stairs when moving items.

    Moving to Tabere Heights

Tabere Heights, comprising two-bedroom ensuite apartments, is located on Tabere Lane, directly overlooking Kirichwa Kubwa River. Apartments rent for Ksh 85,000 per month, which is cost-effective for the amenities available. If you’re planning to move to Kileleshwa, you will find that moving to Tabere Heights is a relatively smooth experience as security and management are helpful and the long carry is manageable.

    Moving to Kentmere Valley

Amenities include a swimming pool, gym, clubhouse, restaurant, and children’s playground. The development is located conveniently near schools, shopping centers, hospitals, and other social amenities.

Kentmere Valley is located on a steep valley, and movers to Kileleshwa may need to have excellent driving skills to navigate the sharp bends on the roads. Moving into the residential units is straightforward, provided you communicate with security and management before your move.

    Moving to Signature Residence

Signature Residence is a beautifully designed apartment in Kileleshwa with 3-bedroom units. The apartments have a children’s play area, gym, swimming pool, backup generator, and self-contained DSQs. Rent prices are given on inquiry, but they generally start from Ksh 140,000.

When moving into this development, it’s best that you liaise with the management so that your movers can have an easy time. For instance, it’s best to ask if the movers can use the apartment’s lift to carry heavy household items. Additionally, knowing whether you can park the moving truck inside the gate will go a long way in preparing your movers for the kind of workload they can expect.

    2. Moving to Kilimani, Ring Road

Families and individuals moving to Kilimani, Ring Road can expect to access a wide range of essential amenities, such as office space, recreational facilities, well-maintained public infrastructure, and schools for those with children. The estate has a range of storage facilities and housing options, ranging from townhouses, apartments, duplexes, and studios.

Popular developments include the Perry West Residence, Silverstone Apartments, Chester Court, and Capital Rise Apartment.        Malls, shops, and plenty of restaurants and cafes are also easily accessible from the Residence.

While there’s ample parking for vehicles, moving trucks aren’t allowed into the complex, and movers must prepare early for long carry. Nonetheless, the management is supportive and moving to Perry West Residence can be a smooth process.

      Moving to Silverstone Apartments

If you’re moving to Ring Road, Kilimani, you might want to consider Silverstone Apartments, along Argwings Kodhek Road. The apartment features 1- and 2-bedroom units and 3 pent suits on the terrace floor. You can access luxury amenities such as a gym, pool, secure parking, and a full backup generator. Schools, restaurants, and shops are also easily accessible.

You can move with your pets to Skyline Apartments under certain restrictions, unlike other residential units in the Ring Road area.

Moving to the apartment is simple, but you will need to screen and select professional movers in Kilimani who are familiar with the area’s regulations and requirements. Hire experienced movers who can help you move quickly and safely and notify the complex’s management beforehand for a streamlined moving process.

      Moving to Capital Rise Apartment

Capital Rise Apartment offers 1-, 2-, and 3-bedroom units sold from Ksh 8.3 million. The complex boasts a pool, gym, secure parking, a children’s playing area, and a full backup generator.

Movers to Kilimani are not allowed to park moving trucks inside the complex, nor can they use elevators to move heavy furniture and items.

      Moving to Chester Court Apartments

Located on Wood Avenue, Chester Apartments features 3-bedroom units renting for Ksh 85,000 per month. Some amenities include a swimming pool, children’s play area, and tight security with CCTV surveillance and security personnel at the gate.

Moving to Kilimani, Chester Court is straightforward provided you communicate with the management before the move day. Movers may, however, experience a long carry for houses located on the top floors since the apartments lack elevators.

      3. Moving to Lavington, Ring Road

Lavington is an upmarket neighborhood on the outskirts of Nairobi known for its serene atmosphere and luxurious appeal. Moving to Lavington is ideal for those looking for a quiet living environment conveniently close to the CBD. It’s also ideal for those who want easy access to leisure activities such as golfing and biking.

Some amenities that moving to Lavington can afford you include access to the Jaffrey Sports Club, Lavington Mall, pediatric and general hospitals such as Aga Khan and Maria Immaculata, and top local and international schools

Popular residential units in Lavington include The Bricks, Hatheru Road, Muthangari Suites, and St. Austin’s Gardens.

        Moving to The Bricks, Lavington

Located off Argwings Kodhek road, the Bricks apartments consist of three and four-bedroom all ensuite apartments with DSQs. It’s perfect for families with amenities such as a kids’ play area, fully equipped gym, swimming pool, and ample basement parking. Tenants are also allowed to keep pets.

Moving to Lavington, the Bricks requires early preparation as there may be some unexpected challenges. For instance, movers must understand the basement parking cannot accommodate large moving trucks, and they might have to park outside. This could mean a greater workload when moving household items.

        Moving to Hatheru Road

Hatheru Road in Lavington is a top destination for movers to Lavington because of its many choices for apartments for sale and rent. Some popular residences along this road include Green Garden and Tarro Apartments which feature modern finishes and easy access to amenities.

Green Garden apartments consist of three-bedroom apartments, while Tarro apartments consist of three and four-bedroom apartments with DSQs.

Movers to Hatheru Road Lavington all share one distinct experience – the long carry. This is due to the long distance between where moving trucks are allowed to park and the entrance of the apartments. Additionally, movers should expect strict measures on entry and exit due to the high level of security – moving trucks are prohibited in and out of the complexes past 6 pm.

        Moving to Muthangari Suites

Muthangari Suites, off Gitanga Road, hosts luxury 3- and 4-bedroom apartments that rent out for Ksh 100,000 and Ksh 130,000. Amenities include ample parking, a swimming pool, a gym, and a children’s play area. Management allows the tenants to keep pets such as dogs and cats.

Due to its high security and manned gates, movers to Muthangari Suites must liaise with the management before the move. Moving trucks may be required to park outside the gate, resulting in a long carry for movers to the apartments. While the apartments do not have elevators, the blocks are not too high, so movers don’t have difficulty carrying heavy household items up the houses.

        Moving to St. Austin’s Gardens

St Austin’s Garden is a high-end gated housing development in Lavington that offers high-end 3-bedroom apartments and 4-bedroom duplexes to rent. It is conveniently located on Muhoya Avenue close to the Nairobi Jaffery Sports Club, Nairobi Jaffery Academy, and Lavington Mall.

The complex boasts a range of facilities, including a well-equipped gym, swimming pool, a full backup generator, CCTV surveillance, ample parking, and a children’s play area. The asking rent for apartments in this development is Ksh. 220,000 and Ksh. 280,000 per month for 3 and 4-bedroom apartments, respectively.

Moving to Lavington in St Austin’s Gardens will require prior communication between movers and the management before moving. This is because the management has strict rules regarding letting moving trucks in and out of the compound. Movers will also be required to carry furniture and items through the stairwells as these apartments do not have an elevator.

        4. Moving to Parklands, Ring Road

Parklands is one of the most convenient locations for those planning to move to Ring Road as it’s close to the CBD and boasts various housing options. Moving to Parklands offers access to a vibrant and diverse community, and leisure facilities for golfing, playing padel ball, horse riding, and cycling.

Some of the best residential areas and units include Haveli Towers, Taarifa Gardens, Laxcon Court, and One West Park. Some common experiences for movers to Parklands, Ring Road include restricted access, long carries, restricted use of elevators for movers, and narrow stairwells. Thus, it’s essential to plan accordingly.

          Moving to Haveli Towers

Haveli Towers on 2nd Parklands comprises apartments and penthouses. These units are all ensuite and come fitted with air conditioning, an alarm system, and a laundry room. While you can rent units in the Towers, the management prioritizes buyers with prices ranging from Ksh 17,650,000 for 1-bedroom apartments to Ksh 40,179,500 for 3-bedroom apartments.

Movers to Haveli towers should expect restricted access, with the management restricting moving trucks to park outside the gate, resulting in a long carry. Moreover, while the development has spacious lifts, the management is very strict on how movers can use them to carry household goods.

          Moving to Taarifa Gardens

Taarifa Gardens features spacious 2 and 3-bedroom apartments, which rent for Ksh 130,000 and Ksh 150,000, respectively. The apartment is conveniently located near amenities such as Avenue hospital, Parklands Sports Club, and Westlands shopping center. It is one of the most sought-after units for locals and expatriates moving to Ring Road.

Moving to Taarifa gardens requires planning and prior communication with the management for efficiency. Movers can only park their moving trucks outside the development, resulting in a very long carry from outside into the house. Nevertheless, the management is quite friendly and supportive and will go out of their way to make your move as smooth as possible.

          Moving to Laxcon Court

Laxcon Court is a mixed development unit with both commercial and residential spaces. Residential spaces comprise 3- and 4-bedroom apartments with rent prices of Ksh 120,000 and Ksh 160,000, respectively. The apartments have a heated pool, gym, dedicated aerobics room, children’s play section and an entertainment area for up to 100 persons.

Moving to Parklands, Laxcon Court presents long carry problems, both for house and office movers. Carrying furniture in the elevators is not allowed, even with buildings’ narrow stairwells. This can make the moving process tedious and stressful if not planned properly.

          Moving to One West Park

Located right in the heart of Westlands on Mpaka Road, One West Park is another suitable location near Ring Road. Quite popular with expatriates and business executives, this housing development has modern facilities for both adults and children such as a kids’ playing section, entertainment area, gym, pool, and two standby generators.

One West Park has 2-, 3-, and 4-bedroom apartments and penthouses all with DSQs. Sarit Center, MP Shah Hospital, and Parklands Sports Club are all accessible within walking distance. Rent prices in One West Park are Ksh. 125,000 for 2-bedroom apartments, Ksh 160,000 for 3 bedrooms, and Ksh.180,000 for 4-bedrooms.

Because of its location, moving to One West Park can be challenging for movers due to how busy Mpaka Road can get. Traffic can get very congested on weekends and peak hours (morning and evening), so it’s best to plan accordingly. Security in One West Park doesn’t allow moving trucks inside the complex, which makes the long carry for movers quite complicated and stressful.
