Second edition of Nellions’ community tennis tournament concludes at Parklands Sports Club

NAIROBI, 21 October 2026: The second Nellions Open Tennis Tournament ended on Saturday, 10 October at Parklands Sports Club in Nairobi. Ismael Changawa won the Men’s Seniors Singles, Stacy Yego won the Ladies’ Seniors Singles, and Soloh Karani won the Men’s Masters title.

The tournament ran over four days, from Wednesday, 7 October to Saturday, 10 October. Players competed in three categories, with the championship finals played on Friday and Saturday before club members, families, and supporters.

Changawa and Yego win without dropping a set

Top seed Ismael Changawa controlled the Men’s Seniors Singles from start to finish, without conceding a set throughout the tournament. In Saturday’s final, he defeated Albert Njogu 6–1, 6–0.

Top seed Stacy Yego also won the Ladies’ Seniors Singles without losing a set. Felicia Ouko pushed her hard in a close first set in Saturday’s final, but Yego took it 7–5 before winning the second set 6–2.

Karani takes the Masters title

The Men’s Masters event had 10 entries split into two round-robin groups, followed by championship and classification playoffs. In Friday’s final, Soloh Karani beat Silvanus Isoso 6–2, 6–1.

A returning fixture on the club calendar

The tournament began in September 2025, and this second edition establishes it as a regular event for Nairobi’s tennis community. It forms part of Nellions’ Corporate Social Responsibility programme.

Through the tournament, the company supports health and wellbeing, competitive sport, and community connection in the city where it has worked for more than a decade.

The tournament’s three categories were chosen to include as many players as possible. The Ladies’ Seniors Singles is a dedicated category for women in competitive tennis, while the Masters event gives experienced players a competitive platform at every stage of life.

The initiative aligns with the UN Sustainable Development Goals on good health and wellbeing (SDG 3), gender equality (SDG 5), sustainable communities (SDG 11), and partnerships (SDG 17).

Thanks to players, officials and partners

Nellions congratulates all three champions and recognises the runners-up for the quality of their finals. The company also thanks every player who entered, the officials and organisers who kept the competition running smoothly, Tennis Kenya, and Parklands Sports Club for hosting the second edition.

Nellions will use lessons from this year’s tournament to plan future editions and its wider community engagement.
